Editorial policy
Eastern Stage Review aims to make clear, careful writing about live performance. We separate observation from interpretation, check factual statements before publication and make uncertainty visible when a point cannot be settled from the material at hand.
Accuracy and corrections
We check names, titles, dates and other factual details against suitable sources where available. Interpretations are presented as interpretations, not facts about what a writer or performer intended. If you spot an error, use the Contact page and identify the passage and the correction you believe is needed. We review substantiated corrections and amend published wording when appropriate.
Editorial independence
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not to promise favourable coverage to a contributor, partner or other outside party. A relationship with a partner does not determine our conclusions or give a partner control of unrelated editorial work.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid placements and partner-created material are clearly identified near the material itself, so readers can tell what they are viewing. Any illustrations generated with AI are identified as AI-generated. We do not present an illustrative image as a documentary record of a performance.
A living policy
We may refine this policy as the publication develops. When a change affects how readers should understand our work, we will make the wording clear on this page.
Every stage choice changes what we see
We look closely at the work behind live performance, without treating one interpretation as the only possible one.
