Eastern Stage Review

Write for us

We welcome pitches that help readers see live performance with fresh attention: a clear idea, a specific subject and a useful explanation of why it matters to an audience.

What to pitch

We consider accessible essays about playwriting, acting, rehearsal, stagecraft and audience experience. A strong pitch focuses on one question or choice, explains what a reader will learn and shows how the subject can be handled without relying on unsupported claims or insider shorthand.

What helps a pitch

Keep your proposal concise. Include a working title, the central idea, a brief outline and any relevant sources or permissions the piece would need. Tell us whether the proposal has been published elsewhere or sent to another outlet. We welcome considered perspectives, not promotional copy or a disguised review request.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please do not send a complete article unless we have asked for one. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and we will discuss scope and terms before commissioning any work.

Our point of view

Every stage choice changes what we see

We look closely at the work behind live performance, without treating one interpretation as the only possible one.
